  • East Shore Area Library 4501 Ethel St Harrisburg, PA 17109 (map)

UPDATED INFORMATION since initial posting:

This program is scheduled for August 23 as an in-person interactive session discussing how our body and mind's experience and history of stress influences our choices and reactions through these responses. How do we present ourselves or react in our lives when confronted with a threat or challenge? Discovering also how regulating our nervous system enables us to act with more choice and intention; rather than unconsciously react from fear, anger, or shut down. We will learn skills for regulating our nervous system under stress and creating our own personal resilience plan.

Rebecca Thoroughgood is a nationally board certified Licensed Acupuncturist and Chinese herbalist under the Pennsylvania Board of Medicine who maintains a private practice in Harrisburg. She is also a nationally board certified Health and Wellness Coach.

Ellen Smith, MD is a retired family physician who became more interested in resilience after retiring in 2015. She co-presents with a variety of colleagues and has spoken to about 7600 people from juvenile probation officers to physicians to teachers.
